About Now

Updated 30th July 2025AD

Hello humans,

"Build something that you would want to use. Then be consistent."

A message I've been taught and reshared to a few people lately as some of my freinds and fellow artists look to create something beyond themselves and of meaning.

I've been recording exercise videos for almost a decade (oldest I could find), and feel I've finally found a path to recored, edit and publish them. In a way that if I came across it, I'd want to use it (and hopefully others who are similar to me would too). It's free, there's no log in, no ads, no sound, just hundreds of "Daniels". Mega Ultra Exercise Library

I started writing again, and with a fury I've not felt in a longtime, or maybe ever. What started as a few pages turned into 35 chapters in 2 weeks. I never unsderstood how authors just write all of a sudden. Now I do. The writing is based around Exercise "Philosophy". Essentially lessons from being in the fitness industry and many incredible conversations with clients during rest periods. I'll leave a chapter below.

I realesed a song called Epoche. It had been swirling around my brain for months until I finally put it together in two evenings.

I've been playing alot of music lately, looping, improvising and simply fascinated with arppegiators and soundscapes.

Winter has been cold, brtual and dark. But sometimes thats when the best art is created.

Whatever you’re doing today, this week and right now, I hope you’re being a good friend to yourself.

Human love,

Dan

REST PERIOD

Chapter 33 - 12 HOURS LATER

I could feel my legs, they felt heavy, slightly depleted but still good enough.

The day had gotten away and I was at the dinner table contemplating whether to run or not.

“It’s 7:30pm now. Get dressed, warm up and do that 40 minute run. Fuel, recover, shower, in bed by 10pm”.

Best case scenario this is how it usually works out. But my body was asking me the question - “Do you run now or 12 hours later?” What would another 12 hours of recovery do? A solid 8-10 hour sleep could be the difference between a sluggish nighttime effort and an early morning jaunt.

You might have another training session tomorrow, so your brain says “do it now!”. You might have a recovery day planned. Your brain might be spinning and a run is the best thing for you that evening.

The answer is almost always, maybe.

The pressure we put on ourselves to complete training sessions is warranted if we want results. And the more we learn to listen to our body in the moments, the better we’ll end up training.

So, do you “need” to run now, or will tomorrow be a better time? It’s not lazy, it’s not making excuses, you want to run of course. This is not a case of “do it tomorrow” or “diet starts Monday”.

It is simply, is it best to do your training session now, or 12 hours later?
